Sure, the challenge is a great way to celebrate the harvest time, but it is also a calculated way to force myself to experience what it’s like to live off of just the food I’m able to grow as well as explore the great local food sources that exist.

That being said, I’m looking for some more meal inspiration. Please challenge me with a meal I can make and I’ll do it for you! Build a Meal

Thanks to Melanie for submitting this Home Grown Food Challenge...

Thanks to Melanie for submitting this Home Grown Food Challenge recipe. This suggested combination of ingredients was surely a challenge…Jalapeno, Jerusalem Artichoke, Pumpkin, Chili Pepper and Golden Globe Turnip, doesn’t get more interesting than that. Luckily, when it comes to pizza there really isn’t much I wouldn’t try on it. Up until this point, I had only made spaghetti squash with tomato sauce, which I had grown tired of. This was a very refreshing way to use this winter squash along with other fresh veggies from my garden.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be making more user-submitted recipes.
I’m eating only food from my garden for the whole month and I’d like you to get involved. Here’s how:

Facebook App – Pledge To Take the Challenge

We’ve made this easy for you. Not only can you pledge to take the challenge for as little as 1 day, but you can also pledge to eat only locally grown food in place of home grown.

Napkin Labs Brainstorm Application – Build Me a Meal

Inspired by the show, Chopped, we’re calling on supporters to help me build a meal by choosing ingredients from my Master list. I’ll be choosing a number of submissions to make and participants are able to win prizes!

Thunderclap.it – Spread the Word

This platform is a newer tool that allows you to amplify your tweet by getting backed by a target number of supporters. This model is similar to kickstarter, but in place of a monetary donation, a support needs to dedicate a tweet. C’mon, who doesn’t want to do that!

13 Great Posters on Preserving Food, When It Was Life or Death...

13 Great Posters on Preserving Food, When It Was Life or Death via Tree Hugger
